Our Practice
Dr. Ron Austin and his family moved to Tishomingo in 1979. For over 20 years, Dr. Austin and his staff built his practice in a doctor’s office by the hospital.
By 2002, his practice had outgrown its existing space, leading him to renovate a home in town into a 4,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art dental office just feet from Tishomingo High School.

Blue River Smiles is located at 1202 E Main St. Tishomingo, OK. There is plenty of parking located behind our building. Turn onto S. Beams St. and follow the small signs to find the patient parking area.

Dr. Ron Austin
Dr. Ron Austin has been in private practice in Tishomingo, OK for the past 36 years. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1973 and then with honors from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1979. He began a limited orthodontic practice in the early 1980s. In 1989 he began his Tip-Edge orthodontic training and has completed over 2000 orthodontic cases. In 2004, Dr. Austin became the 1st certified general dentist in the state of Oklahoma to practice SoonerCare orthodontics.
Since 1994, he has been teaching the comprehensive hands-on orthodontic course for the Academy of Gp Orthodontics and in 2007 introduced a mini-residency course for members. He is a popular request for the Academy's annual meeting program along with other speaking engagements. He actively served on the Academy's Board of Directors from 1992-1993. In 1993 he earned Diplomate status in the Academy's Tier Advancement Program. In 2007, he received the Charles D. Yates Distinguished Service Award, the Academy's highest honor. He currently serves on AGpO's Education Committee and as a Board Examiner for the Academy's Tier Advancement Program. He is a current member of the Academy of Gp Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association and the Johnston County Board of Health. Dr. Austin is on the Murray State College Board of Regents as well as a member of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority Dental Focus Group.
Dr. Ron and Sharion Austin have two children, five granddaughters and one grandson. He is a horse enthusiast, taking care of his three horses every morning and evening, has been an avid runner and enjoys attending Oklahoma State Cowboy athletic events with his family.
Dr. Jennifer Rand
Dr. Jennifer Rand is a small-town girl from Dawson, Texas. She graduated with just 24 students, from Dawson High School. She will laugh as she tells you that although she was 3rd in her class, she did not make the “Top 10%!”. She was always involved in sports, drill team and 4-H while in school. Dr. Rand also helped with the family business, Mott’s Craft Factory. In college, she opened her own small company, Collegiate Ideas, and made T-shirts and wooden trinkets for Greek organizations.
Dr. Rand started her career in dentistry over 30 years ago, working in orthodontic offices in Texas and later in Springfield, Oregon. She decided to return to school to become a dentist in 1998. Three years at the University of Texas at Dallas and six years at Baylor College of Dentistry later, she walked across the stage to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery. Quite a challenge when you have school age children with lives of their own! “So thankful for a husband who did more than his share to help me focus on school."
In 2007, after graduation from Baylor College of Dentistry, Dr. Rand practiced dentistry in Collin County for eight years. "I've treated kids as young as 3 and as old as 100! My patients will tell you that I'm gentle and caring and LOVE to talk! I feel it is important to educate patients about dental health and options for creating beautiful, healthy smiles. Helping patients is what makes my heart beat. I love teaching patients how to take care of their teeth and prevent oral disease. I also love seeing "BEFORE" and "AFTER" results of cosmetic or orthodontic cases. Patients are so happy with their new smiles, it makes me, LOVE my job!"
Dr. Rand and her husband, Steve have been married for over 30 years, and are parents to Josh and Caitlin. Both have beautiful families of their own. The Rands have five grandchildren; two boys and three girls.
Dr. Rand has been working in Tishomingo with Dr. Ron Austin since 2015. She and Dr. Austin are two of just a handful of dentists in Oklahoma that are certified by SoonerCare to perform orthodontic treatment. They are very busy providing orthodontic care for Southeast Oklahoma. Some of their patients come from two hours away.
Dr. Austin Brasher
Dr. Brasher is a native Oklahoman, born and raised in Edmond, OK. He attended Brigham Young University where he walked onto the football team as a kicker before attending The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Brasher chose to pursue an advanced surgical training residency and was accepted by his first choice, The Foundry Dental Implant Center, outside Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Brasher stays at the forefront of technology and procedural techniques to provide his patients with the best possible care. He is involved in a number of communities in which he shares his knowledge and experience with colleagues around the world. Dr. Brasher has also been involved with teaching dental implantology through the Alabama Implant Education program and is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and is on track to be a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology; the highest award that can be achieved in implant dentistry.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Brasher loves attending sporting events, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends. He has been married to his wife, Baily, for nearly 7 years and they have a one-year-old son, named Brooks. Dr. Brasher is also an active member of his church and is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Ollie Beard
Dr. Ollie Beard grew up in Madill, OK, where his father was a dentist. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma, in Norman, and then continued on to dental school, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the OU College of Dentistry in 2017.
Dr. Beard is a member of the American Dental Association and Oklahoma Dental Association. He loves meeting new patients, getting them out of pain, and giving them a great smile!
In his free time, Dr. beard enjoys hunting, participating in shooting sports, being outdoors, and riding motorcycles. We are excited to have Dr. Beard join our team. He looks forward to meeting you!
